Tips for using a pressure cooker

1.Read thoroughly instruction manual for your particular cooker. 2.Make sure the lid of pressure cooker is properly closed and locked into position before developing pressure. 3.If you desire the flavors of foods to mix, let them come into contact with the liquid which transmits flavors. If you do not wish flavors to mix, place individual foods on a rack above the liquid. Steam does not transmit or mix flavors. 4.Do not fill a pressure cooker more than 2/3 full. If you are cooking foods that expand, like rice or dried vegetables, don’t fill more than 1/2 full. 5.In general, bring the recipe to the boil before closing the lid to facilitate quicker pressurization and reduce the chances of burning the food. 6.Never open the pressure cooker towards your face, even if you have already released the pressure. There may still be steam inside. 7.Open the pressure cooker only when it has cooled and the inside pressure has been reduced.
